Retired Parkview baseball coach Hugh Buchanan, who won 546 games in 29 years as the Panthers head coach, was elected to the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Dec. 3 in Nashville.

Buchanan, who retired in 2004, led the Panthers to three state championships (1996, 2001 and 2002).

According to the Baseball Coaches Association website, Buchanan was one of four coaches nationally to be named to this year's Hall of Fame class, joining Dick Birmingham of Hillvcrest, Mo., Harry Breland of Oak Grove, Miss., and Jerry Dawson of Chaparral, Ariz.
