Berkmar High Teacher Lands on 'Jeopardy!'

Christopher Pae, who teaches world history, will compete on the popular quiz show tonight, Nov. 9

Christopher Pae, a teacher at Berkmar High School, will compete on "JEOPARDY!" today, Nov. 9.

He is participating in the quarter-finals of the quiz show's teachers tournament, and he is the only teacher from Georgia to do so.

In Lilburn, he teaches world history and coaches the school's winning academic decathlon team, according to his teacher page.

As one of 15 educators chosen for the quarter-finals, Pae recently traveled to Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif., for the Oct. 1 and 2 tapings.

He will compete against Robin Cheney, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Claif., and Marion Penning, of Baltimore, Md.

Some 100,000 educators initially tried out online, and then about 2,000 to 3,000 educators advanced to in-person follow-ups before a select few were chosen for tapings, according to a spokesperson for the game show.

If Pae advances to the finals and wins the tournament, he will receive the grand prize of $100,000 and a guaranteed spot in the Tournament of Champions.

The episodes spotlighting K-12 teachers began Nov. 7 and runs until Nov. 20.
