Blue Rooster Reopens in Lawrenceville

The restaurant originally opened in Lilburn, but closed its doors in late 2010.

After 10 years in Lilburn, the Blue Rooster Café & Bakery has reopened its doors in downtown Lawrenceville.

The restaurant officially reopened March 18.

Co-owners and sisters-in-law Kyle and Donna Caves were excited on the big day, as they braved cold, rainy weather to talk to customers.

Previously, the restaurant occupied 107 Main Street in Old Town Lilburn, but closed just after Christmas in 2010. The original owners, who included Kyle Caves, were longtime residents of Lilburn, who wanted a place for homestyle cuisine.

Locals would flock to the Main Street restaurant to dine on chicken salad, fried chicken or pick up one of their popular box lunches. When it closed, Old Town Lilburn became void of any place to eat.

The new space in downtown Lawrenceville is smaller and so is the menu.

"That was more of a restaurant [in Lilburn]; we’re more of a restaurant and eatery,” said co-owner Kyle Caves. “It’s a smaller menu but still very charming.”

The scaled down menu focuses mainly on baked goods. However, the new Blue Rooster still serves many favorites, including its famous chicken salad.

Ironically, just as a new Blue Rooster restaurant is opening, construction has started on a new restaurant in its old space in Lilburn. That restaurant is expected to open in June.

Want to visit the new Blue Rooster Café & Bakery?

It is located at 169 West Pike Street, behind the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. They are open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

A "restaurant" is different than a "restaurant and eatery"?

Im glad they didnt come back to Lilburn. Downtown Lawrenceville has alot going on and i think they will do very well here. Lilburn has nothing going for it anymore. Im glad Kyle reopened the Blue Rooster! I missed the chicken salad and the enviorment that the little bakery brings. I can honestly say I along with many more are glad to have her back in buisness! =)
