Carnival Celebrates Parkview Football

A look at Saturday's festivities at Parkview High School.

Parkview High School held a Kickoff Carnival on Saturday, Aug. 6, to introduce its 2011 football season to the community.

Despite the occasional drizzling rain and distant thunder, about 250 people showed up and participated in the activities.

Dozens of children participated in the Punt, Pass and Kick competition to see who could throw or kick the furthest and with the most accuracy.

The Parkview cheerleading squad did face paintings for participants in one booth. Parkview T-shirts were on sale in another booth. There were also different kinds of inflatable bouncers available for children to play on. Chick-fil-A provided sandwiches and drinks for everyone.

One of the highlights of the carnival was Cow-Chip Bingo, which featured Chocolate, a cow from the Yellow River Game Ranch. A section of the end zone was fenced off and a grid painted within the fence.

Participants purchased squares for $10 each in hopes that cow chips would land on their spot. The winner received a $500 prize. Chocolate did not disappoint, and a winner was determined within a minute of her entering the field.

The festivities continued with the Parkview cheerleaders performing cheers for the crowd. Later in the evening the 2011 football team was introduced by Head Coach Cecil Flowe.
