Moms Talk: It's Getting Warmer (Yay!) and It's Time to Get Out of the House
Where do you like to take your kids for outdoor activites?
Mother Nature hasn't been too friendly so far in 2011.
With snow in January and the bitterly cold temperatures that followed, outside activities have been limited.
For this born-and-raised Gwinnettian, sledding and snowman-building lose their appeal pretty quickly.
Give me sunny skies and mild temps any day. Fortunately, Mother Nature's ire seems to have dissipated and we're looking at a five-day forecast of partly sunny skies with a high on Friday of 71 degrees — 71 degrees! In February! Hip, hip hooray!
Warm temperatures in my house means the TV stays off and the kids stay outside.
In an effort to keep things exciting, we've been revisiting our favorite local haunts like the Lilburn City Park playground and the Mountain Park Park playgrounds.
Now that my bigger kids are full-fledged bike riders, I've been thinking about trying out the Camp Creek Greenway Trail.
What are your favorite local outdoor areas? Do you go to the playground at Stone Mountain? How far are you willing to drive for some fresh air and fun times? What about in your own backyard? Any games or activities your kids love?

Here's a suggestion. Take your kids (and their friends, too) on the Camp Creek Greenway Trail and play a game of scavenger hunt. They can ID things beginning with each letter of the alphabet, or maybe count the number of birds seen, or anything else you can come up with. Great fun.

We love Stone Mountain Park! It's great for every change of the season. Pretty fun with 60 something degree weather AND Snow Mountain still going on. LOVE IT! We also love just walking around the park.

I'm so happy to see spring coming and can't wait to spend some time with the family at Stone Mountain Park!

The playground at Stone Mountain is perfect for little ones - especially with the HUGE sandpit. I think older kids would have fun hiking the mountain or tossing a frisbee around on the lawn.
