Parkview High Football Edges Dacula 26-21 (Updated)
Panthers win for the fourth straight time, stay atop region standings
Anybody who knows anything about Gwinnett County sports will tell you that a winless Dacula football team is a dangerous Dacula football team.
Parkview found that out Friday night in Dacula, needing to hang on to beat the fiesty Falcons 26-21.
Chris Carson rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns as the state-ranked Panthers (5-1 overall, 4-0 in the region) won their fourth straight game and remained in first place in Region 8-AAAAAA. Parkview is tied with South Gwinnett (also 5-1, 4-0) atop the standings. South Gwinnett was idle this week.
Dacula, a playoff team last year and perennially one of the better teams in Gwinnett County, fell to 0-7, 0-5.
Carson scored on runs of 3, 4, 2 and 13 yards, giving him 10 of Parkview's 11 rushing touchdowns this season.
Parkview built leads of 14-0, 20-7 and 26-14, but Dacula kept coming back, pulling to within the final margin in the fourth quarter.
Parkview finished with 330 total yards, 285 of which came in the running game. Justis Rosser added 32 yards on seven carries, Mac Marshall 27 yards on three carries, and Brandon Sullivan 25 yards on four carries.
Marshall completed 3 of 6 passes for 45 yards, with the completions going to Jay Turner (22 yards), Keanu Mole (13) and Carson (10).
