Did You Celebrate Diwali?
Last night I went to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Lilburn to celebrate Diwali. I've been to this place a few times already to take pictures. It is an architectural marvel that you have to see if you haven't been there before. You can easily spend hours taking in the hand carved details all around the building inside and out.
During Diwali they lit up the building at night in an array of multiple colors. The smell of incense lingered everywhere. The fireworks and music show started at 8pm, and it a sensory experience I'll never forget.

I think that City of Lilburn Residents should be notified when this is going to happen. It is very scary to hear this and think that something really bad is going on. It sounds like we are being bombed! It is very scary for children to hear this and not know what is happening.

My bad - I don't read the 5 things everyday - only about twice a week. I guess this is how THEY feel when we have July 4th and New Year's Eve!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This celebration happens every year in late Oct or early Nov (not a specific date). It is worth visiting the site at least once to experience it, too. The fireworks and light show is quite amazing to see.

And I should mention that it was a spectacular event which helped me understand a little of the cultural ideas of the people of the mandir. Truly worth the time to attend.

I don't care how many times you post it on the internet, there are lots of people who don't have access to a computer. This should be made aware to the people of Lilburn in some other way. Just not handled in a very good manner.
