Bakery to Hold Benefit, Silent Auction for Injured Lilburn Man

Charles Tumulak was paralyzed following a horrific fall in an obstacle course race. His family and friends continue to rally around him.

A metro Atlanta bakery will soon hold a fundraiser to benefit a Lilburn man, who was injured in a horrific accident in March. The fundraiser takes place 7 a.m. - 9 p.m., May 18 at Canvas Cafe and Bakery, in Marietta. Proceeds will benefit Charles Tumulak, who was paralyzed from the neck down after falling 15 feet -- head first -- during an obstacle course race. One of Tumulak's sisters, Leilani Townsend, said the bakery has "graciously taken it upon themselves to organize and put on this amazing event in which 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Charles." Anything purchased during the daylong event and all monies raised from a silent auction will help defray some of Tumulak's housing and medical costs. Items for the silent auction have …

Compared to this time last year in Lilburn, the number of active listings is down, the median listing price is up and the average days on the market is lower, according to Prudential Georgia. Eastside Medical to Show ER Wait Times on Lilburn Billboard

Two digital billboards are planned, including one in Snellville.

If anyone needs to go to Eastside Medical Center in Snellville and wants to know the wait time there, just look up. The hospital has announced that it will display emergency room wait times on a digital billboard in Lilburn beginning this week, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. The billboard will be at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Killian Hill Road. The wait times updates with a four-hour rolling average every 30 minutes, the Post reports. There is already a digital billboard in Snellville near the hospital, at the intersection of Tree Lane and Ronald Reagan Parkway. Letter Carriers to Collect Food Donations Saturday

This is the 21st year for Stamp out Hunger!, a food drive conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

The National Association of Letter Carriers will host its 21st annual nationwide Stamp Out Hunger! Food Drive Saturday, May 11. Customers can leave non-perishable food donations in a bag near their mailbox on Saturday, before their letter carrier arrives.  Items of particular need include: Donations collected will be delivered to a local community food banks and food pantries for distribution. Last year, letter carriers collected more than 200,000 pounds of food in metro Atlanta. Since 1993, Stamp Out Hunger! has collected more than 1 billion pounds of food. Deal Taps Lilburn Resident for State Licensing Appointment

Roland Weekley is a principal at Leppard Johnson & Associates, an engineering consulting firm.

Governor Nathan Deal has appointed a Lilburn resident to the state Construction Industry Licensing Board. Roland Weekley, who resides in Lilburn with his wife and children, is the director of electrical and technology system departments at Leppard Johnson & Associates. As a licensed professional engineer in Georgia, Weekley holds licensure in 15 other states. He is a past board member, building committee chairman and construction supervisor for the Gwinnett County Habitat for Humanity. He currently volunteers with the Atlanta Chapter of Independent Electrical Contractors.
