More About Providence Christian Academy
Providence Christian Academy was opened in 1991 to fill a perceived need for a parent-sponsored, interdenominational and independent Christian school in the northeast Atlanta suburbs. In less than 20 years, it grew from a school whose founders leased two-thirds of a strip mall with 354 students to 200,000 square feet of building space on 24 acres (including the original leased space), more than 800 students and a reputation of producing winning students in academics and athletics.
Providence Christian students go on to attend some of the best colleges in the nation, including Vanderbilt, Dartmouth, Wake Forest, Emory, Georgia Tech and the service academies. Students also have won state championships from athletics to science to fine arts. Its athletic teams are competitive across the board, with state championships won in girls soccer (2007) and fast-pitch softball (2000) through the 2009-10 school year.
The school has substantial parental involvement. Its Parent Teacher Fellowship program promotes volunteering in school projects and activities. It also organizes regular prayer activities, including regular Mom's and Dad's prayer groups at the school.
For students, the Ministering to Every Region of God's Earth (MERGE) program establishes mandated time to be devoted to community service.
