Lilburn Student Ronald Stephens Awarded ICMA-RC Memorial Scholarship

Lilburn, GA resident Ronald Stephens, 24, has been selected to receive an ICMA-RC Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship (ICMA-RC Memorial Scholarship). The ICMA-RC Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund Board of Directors presented 30 scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year to recipients from 20 different states. Ronald Stephens will attend ITT Technical Institute and expects to graduate in 2016.

ICMA-RC Memorial Scholarships are presented annually to surviving children and spouses of firefighters, police officers and other public employees who have died in the line of duty. Randy Stephens died in the line of duty while serving the U.S. Marshals Service.

“It is a pleasure to present Ronald Stephens with a scholarship to help further his post-secondary education,” said ICMA-RC President and CEO and President of the ICMA-RC Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund Joan McCallen. “The ICMA-RC Memorial Scholarship award honors the memory of Ronald Stephen’s father, Randy Stephens, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and pays tribute to all public employees who lost their lives serving their communities.”
