Students Donate More than 17,000 Food Items to Needy Families in Gwinnett County

Lilburn, Georgia (November 15, 2013) – Kindergarten through 12th grade students at Providence Christian Academy joined together this week to provide food for hungry families in Gwinnett County. Through their combined efforts, students in every grade at the private school located in Lilburn donated a total of 17,182 items to the food drive. This averages out to more than 27 items per student.

Donations collected by elementary and middle school students will go to the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry and items donated by high school students will go to the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry.

“I’m really proud of our students and the generosity they’ve shown,” said Providence Head of School Dr. Jim Vaught. “This food drive is a very tangible way for our students to meet the needs of others, and it’s one of the many opportunities we provide for them to serve others.”
