Atlanta 'O Run' to Benefit Recovering Lilburn Runner

Charles Tumulak was injured in the obstacle course race earlier this year. He is expected to be discharged from Atlanta's Shepherd Center June 3.

Charles Tumulak will soon be discharged from Atlanta's Shepherd Center, and before he arrives home, his friends will honor his courage in a race Saturday.

And, it's a fitting tribute.

It's the same obstacle course race that Tumulak was paralyzed in earlier this year in South Carolina. The Atlanta "O Run" takes place June 1 in Fairmount, Ga.

"While Charles is unable to attend this event, they are donating part of the proceeds to him in his honor," said Leilani Tumulak-Townsend, one of Charles' sisters.

Charles' team, "Team Mudfreaks," will take part in the race, as well. His friends and his brothers are a part of the team.

And, then on June 3, Charles will head home to Lilburn, where he will be living with his parents, his sister said.

"Our parents' home is nearly finished, just adding some finishing touches to his room to make it more like his old place with his photos, medals, and trophies," Tumulak-Townsend said.
