Bites Nearby: Our weekly look at great local restaurants

Got your own favorites restaurant you want to tell people about? Let us know.

Each week, Patch picks a restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here is this week's choice:

An oasis of class in an otherwise perfunctory shopping center, Mai Thai Restaurant has much to recommend it.  The chief asset of this elegant place is the well-known chef Pathomkon Mung-In, who made his name at the renowned restaurant Basil at the Sheraton Grande Hotel in Bangkok.

Don't be fooled, however, by the opulence of the decor or the celebrity of the chef. This restaurant is neither stuffy nor expensive. In fact, the lunch deals are amazingly cheap.  For a measly $6.95 you can have soup, a spring roll and one of an extensive array of traditional dishes.

The Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) is particularly good, and quite spicy, but you can request whatever degree of heat suits you on anything you order.
There are appetizers, salads, curries, vegetarian dishes and various chef's specials to be had. And then there's the Sushi Bar. The only problem with this restaurant is deciding what to eat.
