Bites Nearby: Imperial Chinese Garden

Eatery offers consistently good food.

Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here is this week's choice: Imperial Chinese Garden

For more than 30 years, family-run Imperial Chinese Garden on Rockbridge Road has been serving up all the traditional Chinese foods Americans are used to, from General Tso's chicken to chop suey. And judging from experience and based on the number of regulars that frequent the place, they consistently please.

The Teriyaki Chicken Kabob and the spring rolls are good starters, and the hot and sour soup is remarkable -- laden with shrimp.

As for entrees: Take your pick. You can't go wrong. Two of my favorites are the shrimp with black bean sauce and the mo shu Shrimp.

The restaurant offers some Thai favorites as well -- panang curry and spicy basil.

Top off the evening -- or lunch -- with green tea, coconut or mango ice cream.
