You're Invited to Celebrate Arbor Day in Downtown Lilburn

Events include tree planting, nature walks, raffles and live music.

Reflected in the  and , and the actions of community groups such as the Lilburn Woman’s Club, Lilburn’s natural beauty shines through on Arbor Day.

Perhaps, it’s one of the reasons that the city’s annual celebration of the day has become a highlight of the late winter.

This year will be no different, with several activities planned Saturday morning.

The celebration begins at 10 a.m., when Mayor Diana Preston makes a proclamation to commemorate the day. From there, a guided walk down the trail will stop at the meadow, where a large laceback elm tree will be planted. The woman’s club envisions the meadow will eventually be ringed by shade trees; three elms have already been planted there.

Other features include children’s games led by Girl Scout Troop 1252, woodcarving demonstrations by the Atlanta Woodcarvers Club and refreshments.
