Farmer's Market Goes to the Dogs

Special treats and surprises for dogs and their owners are planned at the weekly market Friday.

During its “Dog Days of Summer” Night, the market is inviting attendees to bring their dogs for some special treatment. There will be treats for owners, too.

All dogs attending the market — 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the in Old Town — will receive a doggie bag, filled with treats, toys and other surprises.

There also be a photographer patrolling the area to snap shots of your dogs. A “doggie pool” for the pets to cool off and a stroll down the Greenway Trail also are part of planned activities.

Owners can learn about the Gwinnett Humane Society and Ahmisa House, which helps human and animal victims of domestic violence reach safety.

The event is co-sponsored by the Lilburn Woman’s Club’s Conservation Program.

For an added treat, a hot-dog vendor will be at the market with a special menu:

-The Chihuahua: Topped with Mexican cheese, homemade salsa and pickled chilis.

-The Bulldog: Topped with mustard, ketchup, onion, chili, and shredded American cheese.

-The Schnauser: Bratwurst topped with sauerkraut and brown mustard.

-The Mut: Topped with your choice of available toppings.
