Welcome to Friday and the cusp of a promising weekend. Here are some things to know today.

The weather: Not much change from Thursday. There's a 20 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m., and the high should be about 91 degrees. It'll be partly cloudy tonight with a low of 71.

Only two more: Next Friday will be the last Lilburn Farmers' Market of the season. Tonight, it's R.D. Head Elementary PTA night, with music by Clark Brown.

Gas prices: The average price for a gallon of regular gas nationwide was $3.585 late Thursday, little changed from Wednesday. In Georgia, it's $3.582. Prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com on Thursday for Lilburn ranged from $3.44 a gallon to $3.59.

Today in history: It's the 20th anniversary of the August Coup in what was the Soviet Union. A group of communist hardliners who opposed President Mikhail Gorbachev's reforms had placed Gorbachev under house arrest. The coup lasted only a few days, but set in motion the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union.
