Five Things to Know Today, August 26

It's the last day of the Lilburn Farmers Market.

Welcome to the last Friday of August. Here are some things to know as you head into the day.

The weather: Not an iota of difference from Thursday, it seems. It'll be sunny, with a high of about 95 degrees, but it will feel like 98. The low tonight will be about 72.

Time to say goodbye: It's the last day of the Lilburn Farmers Market, from 4 - 8 p.m. Mandy McManus sends a big thank you for your support this season and says the market will open again June 1, 2012. In the meantime, check out the new market at Berkmar United Methodist Church on Pleasant Hill Road. It will be open Tuesdays and Fridays in September.

Today in history: George Orwell's Animal Farm was published in the U.S. 65 years ago today. Opinion alert: The book is as valuable a lesson as it was in 1946; all animals remain equal, but some are still more equal than others.
