Find your way. You can get more out of your next visit to one of Georgia’s many state parks with a new app from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The only official state DNR app provides up-to-date information on facilities and wildlife, upcoming events and areas to visit by location or activity.

The best of times, the worst of times. Happy 200th birthday to Charles Dickens, whose novels include some of the best-known and still best-read of the English language canon: A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Great Expectations. Dickens died in 1870, just 58 years old, after chronicling the Victorian era in more than a dozen novels and many more short stories, essays and even plays. Who’s your favorite Dickens character?

Be aware. It’s National Black HIV/AIDS Day, started by national groups and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 1999 to raise awareness and promote education and prevention. AIDS and HIV hit black Americans at higher rates than other communities. Among the goals: A black AIDS-free generation.
