Five Things to Know Today, March 6

Guaranteed to tell you something you didn't know yesterday.

Welcome to Super Tuesday!  Here are some things to know as you head into this politically charged day.

The weather: The chance of rain is 0% today.  It should be a beautiful, if somewhat crisp, day, with a high of 59 and a low of 37 tonight. Dressing in layers is probably a good idea.

Gas Prices: Not much has changed, folks.  Late last night gas prices were reported to be between $3.63 and $3.69, with the cheapest gas available at Gulf (127 Arcado Road and N. River Drive).  Kroger, Walmart and Sam's Club all offer discount prices for their gas.  At Kroger and Sam's, simply use your membership card, while at Walmart you will need to purchase a gift card first.  Every little bit helps.  Will high gas prices effect your travel plans over spring break?

Super Tuesday: As we already mentioned, today is Super Tuesday.  We will be live blogging the results as Georgia heads to the polls to nominate their presidential candidate.  Idaho, Massachussetts, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia will also participate, with a total of 437 delegates up for grabs.

Camp Creek Elementary Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A: If you eat at the Chick-fil-A in Lilburn between 5-8 p.m. tonight, leave your receipt with the cashier and a portion of the sales will be donated to Camp Creek Elementary.  Next week they will do the same for Arcado Elementary.

Aspirin: On this day in 1899, Felix Hoffmann registered "aspirin" as a trademark.  Hoffmann was born in 1868 in the town of Ludwigsburg, Germany.  He worked for what would later become Bayer as a chemist.  It was almost by accident that he discovered this miracle drug that boosted Bayer to the top of the pharmaceutical world.
