Five Things to Know Today, Nov. 15

Guaranteed to tell you something you didn't know yesterday.

Welcome to Tuesday! Five Things to Know Today is back from vacation and raring to tell you things about the day and week ahead. Here we go:

The weather: There's a good -- 40 percent -- chance of showers, mainly after 1 p.m., and we may even have some thunderstorms. But it'll still be relatively warm, with a high of about 73 degrees. The chance of rain increases as the night approaches, when the low will be a measly 60 degrees.

Gas prices: A gallon of regular is on average $3.347 in Georgia, almost unchanged from the last Five Things report. Nationally, it's $3.417, about a penny more than a week ago. Prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com for Lilburn in the past 24 hours ranged from $3.26 at (Phillips 66, 5044 Lawrenceville Hwy near Hood Road) to $3.36 (at Gulf, 127 Arcado Road at North River Drive).

Star cluster. November nights are the time to look for a bright cluster of stars called the Pleiades. It should be visible all night long as a collection of six main stars that look a little like one of the Dippers. It reaches its highest point in the sky around Nov. 21 but should be clear before and after that.

New wine. It's almost time to celebrate this year's release of the young wine, fermented for just a few weeks, known as Beaujolais Nouveau. The third Thursday of November is the traditional date for the release. The French Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta is one place to check for events later this week.

Sherman's march. On this day in 1864, Union Gen. William T. Sherman started his March to the Sea by torching the industrial section of Atlanta, after capturing the city in September. Sherman's forces spent the next six weeks crossing Georgia and destroying much of the state before seizing Savannah.
