Gas prices are still rising, and on average a gallon regular in Georgia is $3.350, according to AAA. Nationally, the average is $3.462. In Lilburn, prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com in the past 24 hours ranged from $3.25 (at Marathon, 119 Harmony Grove Road near Lost Grove Drive) to $3.43 (at Shell, 775 Beaver Ruin Road at Burns Road).

Long line: To settle fights between colonists, English surveyors Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon finished drawing the boundary between Pennsylvania and Maryland on this day in 1767, nine years before the birth of the United States. That line was drawn generally westward as the young country expanded and the states south of the Mason-Dixon line lobbied to keep slavery, while those to the north wanted its end.
