TGIF - and finally fall football weather.

Welcome to Friday, the weekend, and some real fall weather. Here are some things to know going into your day.

The weather: Perfect for football, finally. The thermometer may reach 74 degrees today under mostly cloudy skies. There's a chance of rain early Saturday morning - long after tonight's games are over (Parkview vs Shiloh at home; Berkmar vs Grayson away). The low tonight will be a refreshing 53 degrees.

Gas prices: Nationally, the average for a gallon of regular is $3.623, one cent lower than yesterday, according to AAA. In Georgia, the average is $3.501. Prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com in the past 24 hours ranged from $3.39 (at Kroger, 4155 Lawrenceville Hwy at Beaver Ruin) to $3.49 (at Texaco, 4785 Lawrenceville Hwy at Indian Trail/Lilburn Road).

Cut to the Chase a Cop: Pre-register for the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department's first annual Chase a Cop 5k and one-mile fun run by Sept. 18 and save $5 off the normal registration fee. The Sept. 24 run will benefit the sheriff’s department charities Beat the Heat, Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics and the Sheriff’s Explorer Program.

Show time: New movie releases today include "Drive," a "cool crime thriller" according to reviewer Brett Martin. You can see his video review of it at noon today on Lilburn-Mountain Park Patch. Other new movies include a remake of the 1971 Dustin Hoffman thriller "Straw Dogs," starring James Marsden, and "3," a new movie by the director of "Run, Lola, Run."
