The weather: No rain in the forecast for today. The high will be about 83 degrees and the low around 59 degrees tonight.

Gas prices: Still trending downward. The national average for a gallon of regular today is $3.479, according to AAA, and it's $3.326. Prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com for the past 24 hours ranged from $3.22 (at 930 Indian Trail Lilburn Road at Dickens Road) and $3.29 (at Citgo, 4967 Lawrenceville Hwy at Holly Ridge Drive).

Blood drive: The drive is today at the city municipal complex. The need is great and always there. It's from 2-7 p.m.

It's World Rabies Day: Did you know that most human deaths from rabies now is in Asia and Africa? The threat in Georgia today is mainly from wildlife, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 90 percent of animal rabies cases reported are in wild animals; in 1960, the majority was in domestic animals.

On this day in 1931, the Atlanta Constitution reported that city leaders would propose merging Fulton and DeKalb counties and the cities within them into a single entity.
