Get Out: The Weekend Planner

There are more Halloween and fall festivities going on this weekend than you can shake a pumpkin full of candy at.

Trick or Treat for Tumornators:

When/Where: Lilburn Greenway Trail, Saturday, Oct. 29, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Why go: This is a fun family outing for a good cause: a pet- and stroller-friendly walk on the Lilburn Greenway Trail with trick-or-treating for costumed participants. Proceeds go to the local nonprofit Tumornators, which raises money for Neurofibromatosis (NF) and Schwannomatosis research. Walkers can register for door prizes, a pet costume contest, and pick up T-shirts starting at 8:30 before the race/walk at 9:00.

Pricing: $10 for one; $25 for families of three; and $30 for families of four.

Parkwood Farms

When/Where: October 29, 3 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., , 2519 Parkwood Road, Snellville

Why Go: It's that weekend. Halloween. And, there is certainly a lot to chose from. In Snellville, our and Parkwood Farms will be hosting an event that will be fun for everyone. There will be horse rides for children of all abilities, gluten-free goodies, trick-or-treating, a costume contest, and more all in a carnival atmosphere. Proceeds go to benefit the work of  

Pricing: Events are Free-$5.

Halloween Magic Show

When/Where: Aurora Children's Playhouse, 153 E. Crogan Street, Lawrenceville, Saturday, October 29, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Magic + Halloween -- what could be better for kids?

Pricing: $7 or 10 for $50.

Pumpkin Festival

When/Where: Saturday Oct. 29, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: This is the last weekend of this year's Pumpkin Festival. Bring the whole family to enjoy a pumpkin puppet parade, costume contests, scavenger hunts, pie eating and more fall festivities at Stone Mountain Park.

Pricing: Tickets are $27 for adults and $21 for children ages 3 to 11. Click here to check out special family ticket deals.

PugFest 2011

When/Where: October 29, 10 a.m., Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville

Why Go: Held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, PugFest is the annual fundraiser for Southeast Pug Rescue & Adoption, Inc., also known as SEPRA. PugFest is SEPRA's biggest fundraising event. You'll get to see some cute pooches win awards and prance about. But, there will be NO selling of pugs at the event and NO adoptions. Funds from the event go to help pug pooches, of course! Pricing: $8/person, $4 for children younger than 12

 

When/Where: 4445 Britt Road, Tucker, Saturday, Oct. 29. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., the tournament starts at 9 a.m., with lunch and awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: Exercise, fresh air and a good cause: The proceeds go to the Gladys Cook Scholarship Fund for qualifying high school students in DeKalb County.

Pricing: $75 per player or $300 for a group of four.
