Grab & Go Kids Planner: Something Fun for Everyone

This weekend's best bets for your family outings.

Hey moms and dads! Have you thought about your family's plans for this weekend? Well, I have. Take a look at this list of fun, creative ideas for your family. Whether your kids are into reading, hiking, biking, building, taking in a movie, or seeing dragon bones, I have something for everyone. Have fun!

1. Read Across America event at Borders

When: 2 p.m., Saturday, March 5.

What: Celebrate the National Education Association's national "Read Across America Week" and Dr. Seuss' birthday by coming out to hear special stories, participate in crafts, play games, and more. Best for young, school-age children

When: 10 a.m, Saturday, March 5. (This event happends on the first and third Saturdays of the month.)

Where: Mountain Park Library, 1210 Pounds Road SW, Lilburn, GA 30047. 

Why Go: Have a tail-waggin' good time reading stories to trained volunteer dogs. Studies have shown that reading to dogs increases children's confidence levels in their own reading abilities. Come out, and see if this is true for your young reader!

Pricing: Free!

3. Guided Nature Hike at Autry Mills

When: 10 a.m., Satuday, March 5.

Why Go: Get out there, and see nature, live and in person! This guided hike though 46 acres of forest and wetlands will have you seeing things you never noticed before. Hikers younger than 6 must be accompanied by a parent. The hike takes approximately one hour. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Hike may be cancelled because of weather.

Pricing: Members are $5 a person, and non-members are $7 a person. Registration is not required, but it is available by calling the center.

4. Children's Workshop at Home Depot

When: 9 a.m, Saturday, March 5.

WhereYour Local Home Depot Store.

Why Go: You and your child can enjoy some bonding time, while building a special racing car. Then, come back the first Saturday of every month for a new project. Happy building!

Pricing: Free!

5. " $15 Imagination Days" at Georgia Aquarium

When: Hours vary, now through March 13.

Where:  Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30313.  (404) 581-4000 

Why Go:  Take advantage of this special, limited-time offer to see the world's largest aquarium for a steal of a deal. Normal prices start at $18.96 for kids and $24.95 for adults. Also, "Plant Shark" is still on display; this is great for the shark fans in your family.

Pricing: $15, but children under 2 years old are free. Use this link for special price tickets. This offer is not available at the regular ticketing box office.
