Louise Radloff Named Georgia Mother of Achievement

Radloff "'mothers' children by the thousands," her pastor said.

Georgia Mothers, Inc. of American Mothers, Inc., has named Louise Radloff as Georgia’s Mother of Achievement for 2012 because of her outstanding influence and achievement in her family, her church, and her community. Her faith is strong and she finds great joy in helping others. American Mothers, Inc. has honored Radloff by selecting her as one of the top five Mothers of Achievement for 2012.

Radloff’s passion for improving the quality of life for all of Gwinnett’s citizens is evident through her long-time commitment to the county’s health and human efforts. For more than 25 years she has worked with and served on the Gwinnett County Board of Public Health.

She has served on the Gwinnett County Board of Education since 1972. She has been a long-standing advocate for every child and family within the school system. Radloff has a particular passion for ensuring disadvantaged students receive a quality education. Eight years ago the Gwinnett school district named a middle school after her to recognize the significant impact she has had on Gwinnett’s students and families.

Radloff believes that education is the way out of poverty. In addition to her work as an elected public official, she created and leads her own nonprofit organization, Interlocking Communities, which provides support to families in so many ways –from offering English classes to second language adults to a Saturday school for elementary and middle school students to provide small group tutoring and instructional support at no cost. She works with local businesses and community agencies to secure resources to help families with food, shelter, and clothing.

In addition to working in the areas of education and health and human services, Radloff has been a volunteer with the Gwinnett Juvenile Court for many years. Any organization supporting children and families usually has her actively involved in their work.

Her former pastor said, “Most mothers have children numbering less than ten. Louise Radloff 'Mothers' them in the thousands.” For this reason, her recognitions, honors, and awards are legend.
