Old Town Happenings: Buddy the 'Cool' Dog Comes to Old Town

Also, stay tuned for new merchant coming to Old Town.

This was a special weekend for Buddy, a cool dog from Atlanta.

Buddy had his portrait painted by pet portrait artist Becky Kidd of Snellville, who donated a custom-made pet portrait to Animal Action Rescue, a non-profit dog rescue group in Atlanta as part of a fundraiser event.

Buddy's owners sent a photo of Buddy to Kidd for a portrait. Saturday they met for the first time on Main Street in Old Town to pick up the finished work.

Buddy stole the hearts of all who met him Saturday. Kidd has participated in several fundraising events for Animal Action Rescue this year and will be back in Lilburn later this summer with her dog portraits on display.

-Author Doug Dahlgren stopped by to drop off promotional material on his book “The Son." Dahlgren will be signing books at the shop on May 14.

-Also visiting the shop was Catherine Susky, an artist and member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta. Susky lives in Lawrenceville. She will exhibit her floral and wreath paintings on May 28 at the shop.

-Greg Williams, local Lilburn hobby photographer, was back on Main Street photographing the sights this weekend. Williams can be seen most weekends walking the park trail and taking photos of the local scenery. Greg's family accompanied him this past weekend. Daughter Hailey is a talented young artist who likes to draw cats. Thanks to Greg for his photographs displayed here.

-Look closely next time you drive down Main Street. A “For Rent” sign is missing and a new merchant is coming soon! Stay tuned for details.
