Old Town Happenings: Bulb Sales to Benefit Relay Rally

Lilburn Relay Rally is Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Celebrating the upcoming 7th Annual Lilburn Relay Rally was the theme of the book signing at on Saturday. Chef Nancy Waldeck, author of “Taste and Savor: Delicious Healthy Recipes and Tasty Wine Tips,” conducted a food demonstration, sharing tricks for healthy and easy cooking. Chef Waldeck is a breast cancer survivor and a portion of all her book sales go to cancer groups.

Saturday’s event was co-sponsored with the Lilburn Woman’s Club.

A table was set up for the sale of bookmarks to reserve daffodil bulbs to be planted in the Lilburn City Park’s Garden of Hope to commemorate those who have had or have cancer. The actual bulbs will be delivered when in season. Over 80 bookmarks were sold on Saturday. These will continue to be on sale during the Relay Rally on Friday night.

In addition to the “daffodil bulbs” bookmarks, pot feet (to put under your flower pots to raise them off the ground) were made by club members and sold to help raise funds for the Relay Rally.

A vintage daffodil painting and tall metal garden pink Flamingo are part of the fundraising event.
