Old Town Happenings: Spring-like Weather Brings Activity

Check out our new look at what's going on in Old Town Lilburn.

The weather was outstanding on Saturday, Feb. 19, as the warm sunshine made you forget it was still late winter and had you thinking of spring.

The park was full of visitors and many walked their dogs down Main Street, visiting the local shops. Mayor Diana Preston joined those out on a beautiful day, and stopped by to visit!

Two events by local shop owners were in progress that made the day especially festive.

was a hub of activity, as it kicked off a two-weekend art display of dog portraits by Snellville artist Becky Kidd. The shop is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but you can view the dog portraits in the shop's window through the week.

The exhibit will end on Saturday, Feb. 26. The artist has donated a custom portrait to benefit Animal Action Rescue. Buy a $2 raffle ticket at the shop, or online at Animal Action Rescue's web site http://www.animalactionrescue.org/ through Feb. 26. It’s a great opportunity to win a custom painting of your favorite pet and to help this non-profit dog rescue group. All money collected goes directly to Animal Action Rescue. The winner will be announced on the shop's blog and posted at the shop.
