Old Town Happenings: Weather, Activities Were Sizzling

A weekly look at what's going on in Old Town Lilburn.

The sun was hot and activities were sizzling in Old Town this Saturday.

It was hard to find a parking space on Main Street! The nearby parking lots were packed as folks shopped the Lilburn Yard Sale across from City Hall. Vendors brought everything to sell — from books, jewelry, furniture, art and live plants. Most everyone left with a treasure to take home!

Outside local artist, Peggy Sullens, and friends set up easels and spent the morning and early afternoon painting on the front lawn. The colorful images of oil paintings, lawn chairs and straw hats brought attention from neighbors and friends.

Peggy’s original oils and prints are on display at the shop through Saturday, March 26.  Peggy will start teaching art classes at the shop for children age 9 through 14 beginning mid-April. Contact the store for more information.

Marie Shackelford, a jewelry designer and lamp work bead artist, from Dunwoody, displayed her jewelry and demonstrated how she designs her unique pieces. Marie will be a regular visitor on Saturday afternoons for the next few weeks. Come by and learn how she makes her beads with a torch and glass.
