Parkview High Alumna Honored by Teach for America

Sheena Varghese is currently a teacher at the Harper-Archer Middle School in Atlanta.

A Parkview High School alumna has been honored with the Sue Lehmann Award from Teach for America.

Sheena Varghese, a graduate of Parkview High School in Lilburn, was one of four award recipients, according to a press release from Teach for America. The award honors exceptional second-year teachers.

As a special education teacher at Harper-Archer Middle School in Atlanta, Varghese "led her students to remarkable academic and personal growth," Teach for America officials said.

Not only did her students score well on the Georgia Alternative Assessment in her first year, Varghese also started a peer advocacy program to help support parents and students.

Varghese, and other recipients, will recieve $3,000 as an award.
