Summertime in Lilburn

Lilburn is a little town with big opportunities for the community. Getting out and about and meeting up with friends while listening to music, enjoying some fresh foods, a Braves game and sharing your "things" at a yard sale are just a few of June's activities on the calendar.

• Last week was opening week of the Lilburn Farmers Market. More than 40 vendors are signed up to bring you the freshest produce, the softest artisan breads, the tastiest salsas, pasta and even tamales. Entertainment varies each week, but it's ALWAYS great! The market is located in the Greenway Trail parking lot across from Lilburn City Hall and is open 4 PM to 8 PM every Friday in June, July and August.

• Lilburn Idol begins this Friday, June 8. This year there will be 59 contestants ranging in age from 5 to 71 (most fall in the 10-18 year old range). All performances are held in beautiful Lilburn City Park. Families can come early to enjoy the playground and shady walking trails. Bring blankets to lay out on the grass or folding chairs to enjoy the show.
  
  Several local Lilburn businesses are sponsoring the program this year to provide more prizes and small gifts for all contestants. Virtual Adrenaline Recording Studio is a title sponsor who is providing professional recording studio time to all Finale winners with a larger package for one “Jury Selection” winner at the Finale.
  
  Intermission performances by past Lilburn Idol winners or local musical talent include: June 8 - Parker Freeman, June 15 - Scott Mecredy's Band from Music on Main Street, June 29 - Christy Lee Band, and for our Finale we have NORWOOD who has been nominated for a GA Music Award for best R&B Male Vocalist.
  
  The June 29 show will feature Celebrity Guest Judge John McCorvey aka Eddie Katcher from the surf instrumental band The Surge!

• Lilburn Night - Gwinnett Braves vs. Columbus Clippers Come join the rest of Lilburn for a doubleheader at Coolray Field on Thursday, June 14at 5:05 PM. Your neighbors will be sitting in the stands and the game will be great fun to watch with your buddies!  It is $3 Thursday, which means you can satisfy your cravings with a $3 food and drink special during the game.  General admission lawn tickets also cost a mere $3.

• The Monthly Garage Sale is held March through October - except in July and August when it's just too hot! The next Sale is June 23rd.  there are 40 spots available and, according to Leslie Edwin, they usually have 80-100% capacity. You'll see everything from unique housewares, LOTS of kids' clothes and toys, antiques, artwork and even the kitchen sink! Several groups sell items for charitable organizations, so that's a pretty special thing.  The remaining dates for this year are June 23, September 15, and October 20.
