Beau Knows Weather

Georgia’s groundhog, General Beauregard Lee, makes his official weather prediction on Feb. 2 at the Yellow River Game Ranch.

The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau is joining forces with Yellow River Game Ranch for Groundhog Day 2012. On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, Georgia’s official prognosticator, General Beauregard Lee (a.k.a. Beau), will make his prediction on how soon Spring will arrive.  If Beau does not see his shadow, then there will be an early spring. If Beau sees his shadow, then he predicts six more weeks of winter.

Chick-fil-A will be on-hand with “Beau Biscuits,” a special chicken biscuit for the event. Waffle House will serve coffee and hot chocolate. Chopper, the Gwinnett Braves groundhog mascot, will be on-hand for pictures and all media professionals are invited to a complimentary walking tour of the Yellow River Game Ranch at 8:15 a.m.

Doors open to the public at 6:30 a.m. 

WHERE: Yellow River Game Ranch (4525 Highway 78, Lilburn, GA 30047)

WHO: Yellow River Game Ranch officials will be available for comment, as well as community leaders.

The Yellow River Game Ranch, Georgia’s oldest animal preserve, is now celebrating its 50th year of providing children and adults a 'nose to nose' experience with wildlife. The preserve has over six hundred animals and birds. The Game Ranch is open seven days a week except for certain holidays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 4 p.m.
