Get Out: A Look at What to Do This Weekend

Whether you feel that way not, we have some cool events to get your mind off that heavy week and lighten things up a bit, including events that both you and the kids can enjoy.

STEFAN CASHWELL

When/Where: Saturday, March 5, 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m., Three Blind Mice, 1066 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: If you like music by the sounds of Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams and Damien Rice, you're going to want to spend some time at TBM this Saturday. Hailing from Duluth, acoustic/folk artist Stefan Cashwell will be jamming out for restaurant goers. Not only does the 20-year-old have the guitar as his instrument of choice, but he also combines his sounds with the sweet melodies of the harmonica, mandolin and banjo.

Pricing: Free to listen.

STONE MOUNTAIN WOMAN'S CLUB GIANT YARD SALE

When/Where: Friday, March 4, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.5513 East Mountain Street, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Yard sale season is back, and the Stone Mountain Woman's Club is here to kick off that time of year. With truck loads of items including furniture, clothing, rugs and china, the sale is set to have practically everything for everyone's needs. Proceeds will go to the various charities and causes that the club supports, including schools and home life.

Pricing: Free to browse. 

CONSIGNMENT SALE AT SNELLVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

When/Where: Friday, March 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon,Snellville United Methodist Church, 2428 Main Street East, Snellville. 

Why Go: Spring weather will officially be approaching for good soon, and what better way to save cash than to buy lightly used clothing for the kids? Aiming at children up until their late elementary years, the sale will also have other knick-knacks will be available, too, including toys, baby furniture, games, bikes and more. Maternity clothes will also be conveniently for sale, too. Most items will be 25 percent off Friday and half off Saturday.

Pricing: Free to look around, of course. Cash and checks will be accepted for purchasing apparel.

BESIEGED GAMEDAY EVENT

When/Where: Saturday, March 5, 2 p.m., The Gaming Pit, 4805 Lawrenceville Highway, Lilburn.

Why Go: For all the Magic the Gathering card-game players out there, The Gaming Pit in Lilburn is having a huge tournament this weekend with big prizes. Standard and Type II decks will be acceptable playing cards for the afternoon. The top 8 players will recieve Foil-edition Magic cards worth $20 and more, and anyone that enters will receive a Treasure Mage promo card.   

Pricing: Entry fee is $5 per player.

SMOKE RISE ELEMENTARY FOUNDATION'S CASINO NIGHT

When/Where: Saturday, March 5, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Smoke Rise Country Club, 4900 Chedworth Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Smoke Rise Charter School is havings its 2nd annual Casino night filled with games, door prizes, cocktails and a silent auction. Blackjack, Texas Hold'em, Roulette and Craps tables will be available with dealers, and even a newbies table will be available for those unfamiliar with each game's rules. All proceeds will benefit the school.  

Pricing: Tickets are available for $35 here, and parents can also purchase $5 babysitting for the evening here.
