Farmers' markets and tons of music line up the weekend before school starts.

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 4 p.m. for the market and 7 p.m. for the show, Lilburn City Park, 76 Main Street, Lilburn.

Why Go: The best performers from the last two Idol preliminary performances take the stage again for a final sing-off to end the competition and the summer. Kill some time before the show by browsing the market across the street, too.

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 5 p.m.-midnight, and Saturday, Aug. 6, 10 a.m.-midnight, Hanarry Estates Swim and Racquet Club, 595 Johannah Place, Lilburn. 

Why Go: School starts Monday, so give it a last hoorah with a music festival right in Lilburn. Hanarry Estates has set up a two-day festival right in Lilburn with more than a dozen acts with local artists, such as Bill Nollner and The Rockaholics ATL. For a complete list of musicians and times, . 

Pricing: Free, but donations are accepted, with funds going toward bicycles for underprivileged youths. 

FlapJack's Birthday Blowout

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 10 p.m.-3:30 a.m., Watering Hole Bar and Grill, 4341 Hugh Howell Road, Tucker. 

Why Go: The Watering Hole is throwing a huge party Friday, and they're going out with a long list of activities: From goldfish racing to jello wrestling, it sounds like this is not a night to miss, especially for Watering Hole regulars. Drink specials, free shots and giveaways will be occurring throughout the night. 

Pricing: $5 entry the day of, and $3 in advance, plus a free shot. 

Snellville Farmer's Market

Craft and Antique Village Day at Snellville Farmers' Market

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 8 a.m.-noon, Town Green (across from Snellville City Hall), 2342 Oak Road, Snellville.

Why Go: The city of Snellville continues its monthly craft village at the farmers' market this Saturday. Pick up the weekly produce and browse the arts across the street from dozens of vendors. 

Pricing: Free.

Back to School Book Bonanza

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., County Corners, 3555 Lee Road, Snellville. 

Why Go: Country Corners Child Development Center is having a open house of event that will allow guests to meet the owner and staff of the childcare center, in addition to offering free games, food, arts and crafts. Raffles and gift bags filled with educational items will be also up for grabs.

"A Heart That Forgives"

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 6 p.m., Smoke Rise Baptist Church, 5901 Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Smoke Rise Baptist Church is having a Christian song and dance performance take the stage this weekend. The play details the story of a young man and his sister and their journey to forgiving their father, who abandoned them as children.

"Gnomeo and Juliet" at Screen on the Green

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m., The Avenue (near WineStyles), 1350 Scenic Highway, Snellville. 

Why Go: Having been here this whole summer, Screen on the Green in Snellville continues this week with the animated film "Gnomeo and Juliet." The usual children's activities of face painting and balloon art will also be available to guests, in addition to a free six-pack cooler tote to those who spend $75 or more in the Avenue. 2nd Annual Riverboat Excursion

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Party on a boat this weekend with a DJ, food and dancing, all for a good cause. First Light Entertainment and East Bound Foundation are having a fundraiser to benefit the Horace Ruben Scholarship Banquet for the W.C. Thomas Lodge #112 of the Prince Hall Masons, and the scholarship is presented to college freshman and sophomores to continue their schooling.
