Woodcarving, Book Signing/Talk and Repurposed Art Exhibit
When/Where: Friday, Aug. 12, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., , 94 Main Street, Lilburn.
Why Go: In addition to the weekly on Friday, stop by the Little Shop for some goodies, too. On Friday and Saturday, woodcarving artists are displaying their work and also will be carving on site while telling guests about their art and answering questions. "Country Boy," an exhibit of repurposed pieces made from recyclables, will also be available for patrons to peruse. Just for Saturday, authors Fred A. Martich, Gerald Naehr and Beth Meyerson will do a book signing and talk on "Ready to Go: The History and Contributiong of U.S. Public Health Advisors." Bruce Hedrock will also be performing at the shop at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"Gremlins" at Movie Tavern

Why Go: Movie Tavern's Retro Cinema series is coming to an end for the summer, but not without a few more classics. This Thursday the movieplex is showing "Gremlins," the 1984 comedy/fantasy/horror flick about a kid who breaks the three rules for caring for his furry critter, resulting in a massive army of gremlins.
Pricing: Adult tickets are $8 and $6 for children, seniors and students.
Last Weekend for ART Station Summer Exhibitions
When/Where: Thursday-Friday, Aug. 11-12, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., ART Station, 5384 Manor Drive, Stone Mountain.
Why Go: This Saturday is the last day to see ART Station's exhibitions this summer. Check out the Atlanta Collage Society's "Endangered Species: Found Paper" and ART Station's juried exhibition.

Housebroken
When/Where: Friday, Aug. 12, 9 p.m., Moonshadow Tavern, 3976 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker.
Why Go: Ready for some classic rock? Head to Moonshadow for Housebroken, a local five-piece band who has the sound of any rock band straight from the '70s and '80s. They've performed in Norcross' Lillian Webb Park, Paddy's Pub in Kennsaw and Meehan's in Sandy Springs, in addition to many other gigs.

Professional Ladies' Tee Time Golf Clinic

Why Go: Marketing communications consultancy Communique USA Inc. is hosting a networking event to teach guests how to build their businesses through golf basics, taught by a PGA certified instructor.

National Farmers Market and Open House at Le Cordon Bleu

Why Go: Join Le Cordon Bleu and its professional chef instructors for an open house of the school and also a cooking and preparation demonstration on fresh foods. Guests will learn how to handle and prepare the locally grown ingredients to create masterful recipes and dishes.

Curls of the World Kids Hours

Why Go: One of the Village's newest shops is hosting a story time event every Saturday, and this weekend kicks off the weekly event. Perfect for young audiences, Curls of the World plans to have them dancing, drawing and listening to short stories. This week, Laurie Berkner will be performing the music and "The Boy Who Loved Broccoli" will be read aloud, in addition to a few other hair exercises.

Open Mic at the Dublin
When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 13, 8 p.m., The Dublin Pub & Grill, 3902 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville.
Why Go: The open mic at the Dublin calls for real talent as opposed to just amateur hour. So, if you've got a strong set of vocals and feel like harping out a few tunes, head over to the pub, grab a Guinness and steal the show by singing some songs.

Zumba Party!
