Lilburn Idol: By The Numbers (Reprise)

With the help of Bethany Nash, the marketing and events manager for the City of Lilburn, here's a look at what to expect at Lilburn Idol.

After a rain postponement on the first scheduled performance, the annual begins tonight at 7 p.m. at .

The community singing competition patterned after the "American Idol" TV show (though not affilitated) was to have begun on June 24, but that portion to July 29. The finale is scheduled Aug. 5. 

Here's a "By the Numbers" look at the popular competition.

300 – The average number of fans expected to attend each Lilburn Idol performance. Get there early with your blankets or low-back lawn chairs to stake your claim for prime viewing.

34 – The number of singers competing for the title of 2011 Lilburn Idol.

8 – The number of years the Lilburn Idol has been held.

7 – The number of age groups in this year’s competition. Performers range from young children to adults.

3 – The number of performance dates in this year’s series. The performance dates are July 8 and July 29 with the finale on Aug. 5. Each evening kicks off at 7 p.m.

3 – The number of judges at each performance date, including a celebrity judge each evening. Judges’ scores are worth 80 percent of each contestant’s final score.

1 – The number of winners from each age group.

$0.25 – The cost of each audience vote, which accounts for 20 percent of a contestant’s final score. Money raised at Lilburn Idol funds improvements to City Park.
