Weekend Planner (Dec. 31-Jan. 2)

Our weekly look at what to do this weekend in and around Lilburn.

We have a separate list dedicated just to New Year's Eve events around town, but in case that's not enough fun for you this weekend, we've got other events for those other days. 

1. Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland

For those you can't get enough of the Christmas season, this is the last weekend to see the music-choreographed holiday lights display at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Load up the family vehicle and cruise through the display while listening to the music on your radio. Then visit Santa's Village, with kids play areas, marshmallows for roasting and other goodies.

2. Constructed Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments

Friday, Dec. 31, 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 2, 2 p.m. $5. The Gaming Pit, 4805 Lawrenceville Highway. 770-921-5511, www.thegamingpit.com.

With its constant agenda of Magic the Gathering and World of Warcraft events, The Gaming Pit has some space for Yu-Gi-Oh twice a week. Every Friday and Sunday, players bring their own deck to battle-out their cards against opponents. The entry fee is required, but anyone who plays will receive a deck of cards just for entering, plus prizes will be awarded to the winners. 

3. New Year's Rockabilly Eve

Friday, Dec. 31, 9 p.m.-1 a.m. , 1228 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain. 770-279-9098. 

In addition to our New Year's Eve list, Will Henry's is also doing something special for the 31st. Hors dourves, midnight champagne and party favors is a part of the agenda tonight, and local rockabilly/psychobilly band the Psycho Devilles will take the stage. Ring in the New Year with some rock!

4. New Year's Line Dance Party 

Saturday, Jan. 1, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Free-$15. Aerobics, Yoga & More, 4051 Stone Mountain Highway. 678-749-7777, www.aymfitness.com. 

Get a jump-start on that weight loss resolution with the New Year's Line Dance Party at Aerobics, Yoga & More. Popular dance instructor Carla Ross will be teaching line dance moves from places such as Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and more, and all is welcome to join in. The event is free for card members and $15 for everyone else. 

5. Falcons vs. Panthers Game at Dumpster Sports Bar and Grill

Sunday, Jan. 2, 1 p.m. Free. , 865 Indian Trail Lilburn Road. 770-381-1879. 

Watch the Falcons get (hopefully) one step closer to the Superbowl with friends and a pint in the neighborhood sports bar. With 10 flat screens and a huge projector broadcasting the ultimate game, Dumpster will serve its usual football food of appetizers and wings, but they'll also be playing football bingo. Those who win get to spin a wheel to pick their prize, which includes goodies such as t-shirts, food coupons and drink specials.
