Business Spotlight: Brunswick Zone

Patch regularly features a business from our hometown of Lilburn. This week, learn more about Brunswick Zone.

Brunswick Zone in Lilburn is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and manager Scott Hurley is excited. Hurley has been a part of the Brunswick family for the past eight years. He started as a counter person and worked his way into management after switching career paths from the food industry. Lilburn Patch recently sat down with Hurley to talk about Brunswick Zone.

Patch: What is the best aspect of managing Brunswick Zone?

Hurley: There is a lot of stuff I find rewarding. I love working with and coaching the youth. I like teaching people how to bowl. I can create such a great guest experience by providing customer service. All of this drives me and motivates me.

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of managing a bowling alley?

Hurley: Staffing. It's hard to find quality people that take ownership of their position regardless of what it is. Some of us were raised in a generation where we were taught to take pride in our job no matter whether it was to empty a trash can, cleaning a restroom or managing. It's hard to find those people that still have those values.

Patch: What makes Brunswick Zone unique?

Hurley: We have a dedication to cleanliness and to our product. We also have a great group of employees. They have been here anywhere from three years to 25 years when we first opened. We also offer all sorts of special deals and discounts. But what is really cool is our youth scholarship program. Every member of our youth league accrues points that go towards scholarship funds for college.

Patch: What makes the Lilburn community special?

Hurley: We have just been annexed into the Lilburn community. So we are working on getting more involved in the city like sponsoring Lilburn Idol which we did this year. We love the police force. The Lilburn police department is very proactive and we really appreciate that. But I am looking forward to fostering more relationships within the community.

Located at 3835 Lawrenceville Highway, Brunswick Zone is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. For more information visit www.bowlbrunswick.com
