Business Spotlight: McCorvey's Pro Shop

We regularly feature a business from our hometown of Lilburn. This week, learn more about McCorvey's Pro Shop.

McCorvey's Pro Shop opened in the Lilburn community three and a half years ago. Allen Nichols, the manager of the shop, has been in the bowling business all of his life. Nichols' father was a manager at a Bruswick Zone bowling alley and taught his son a lot about the industry. I recently sat down with Allen to talk about McCorvey's.

Patch: What is the best aspect of managing McCorvey's Pro Shop?

Allen: Working with different people. Everybody has a different game. Everybody throws the ball differently, they take different steps and working with these differences is how I learn as well. It's the best part of my job.

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of managing a bowling pro shop?

Allen: To drill the right ball for the right customer. If a particular ball doesn't match the way a bowler throws it then we did a bad job. There are a variety of balls out there on the market and they all roll differently. The hardest part is drilling the ball the right way.

Patch: What makes McCorvey's unique?

Allen: We take pride in customer service. We want them to get in and out of the shop and answer any questions our customers may have. And we do that as quickly as possible because bowlers love to bowl.

Patch: What makes the Lilburn community special?

Allen: We want to service Lilburn the best we can. We're the only shop of our kind in the community so we want to be the best we can be.

Located at 3835 Lawrenceville Hwy., McCorvey's Pro Shop is open Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Sundays during the fall season only. For more information visit their website at www.mccorveysproshop.com
