Lilburn Liquor Stores Licenses Supsended for Up to 10 Days

Several liquor stores and restaurants were caught selling alcohol to an underage decoy.

The City of Lilburn has suspended the liquor licenses of a number of package stores and one restaurant on the weekend before Christmas. This was done after the businesses failed alcohol compliance checks.

During these checks, several of the businesses sold alcohol to a decoy who was under the age of 21.

The Alcohol Review Board voted Thursday to place these businesses on suspension, and they will not be able to sell alcohol during this time.

The businesses receiving a two day suspension are:

  • 29 Package Store, 4132 Lawrenceville Hwy
  • Depot Package, 4280 Lawrenceville Hwy
  • ABC Beverage, 501 Indian Trail Road
Royal Package, at 5464 Lawrenceville Hwy, received a three day suspension. The Haven Restaurant, at 375 Rockbridge Road, was handed down a 10-day suspension.

“The City of Lilburn is committed to ensuring all businesses that serve or sell alcoholic beverages are operating within the guidelines of the City’s Alcohol Beverage Ordinance which mandates only those who are of legal age are served or sold alcoholic beverages," said Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley in a release.

The suspended businesses must also come up with a written plan on how they will prevent violations like this in the future.
