Plans for Recycling Facility in Lilburn Scrapped

Esquire Metals Trading withdrew its request to open a recycling facility in Lilburn.

A Lilburn based company has decided not to open a recycling facility in town.

According to AMM.com, Esquire Metals Trading LLC withdrew a request to open the facility on the 4100 block of Arcado Industrial Circle following November's Gwinnett County Planning Commission meeting.

The commission voted 7-2 to approve the facility with conditions. They recommended Esquire Metals Trading be allowed to establish a feeder yard on a one-acre plot of land.

Lilburn residents strongly opposed the construction of the facility after concerns about traffic and that the site was too small.

The facility was planned to open in January.
