nearly 30-year history in Lilburn may be coming to a close, as its 6.8-acre site on Arcado Road is for sale.
According to leasing agent Kristen Davis, the soccer complex has been on the market for more than 70 days, and the asking price is $1.7 million. Although it has been used as a soccer facility since 1985, the new buyer need not operate one, she said.

The facility first opened 27 years ago, as part of a dream of famed soccer coach Michael "Mike" Balson to revolutionize indoor soccer in Gwinnett County, and in Georgia. The first of its kind around, the facility's leagues, summer programs and classes became easily recognizable.
Henry "Dan" Daniel has been the owner since then, but now he wants to retire, Davis said. His daughter, Natalie Daniel, runs the academy now.
Like Balson, she's well known for her soccer prowess, having set state records at Brookwood High School and led the nation in goals while attending Lenoir-Rhyne College.
Reached Thursday afternoon, Dan Daniel said he's planning to "semi-retire," and briefly recalled when notable sports figures came to work out there. In those days, it was the best indoor facility around, he said.*
"This place used to be just gangbusters," Daniel said.
While the Daniels look for a new property owner, the current site's programs are still ongoing at the moment.
Amenities for interested buyers include: two indoor soccer fields, one outdoor soccer field, office space, retail space, and a snack bar. There is also a security system, sprinkler system and partial fencing.
The date of possession is negotiable.
