  • June 5th is Attitude Day. Winston Churchill once said, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." Make the day count.
  • Today is also Fly a Kite Day, honoring Benjamin Franklin's big kite event on June 5, 1752. Grab a beautiful kite, find some open land and let them fly!
  • It's a special food holiday today - Gingerbread Day. I don't know why ... I always associate Gingerbread with Christmas, but maybe we're supposed to carry that spirit into this mid-year day?

Lilburn Things:

  • There's still time to register your Home and Business Monitored Alarm Systems online. You must register by June 15 to be in compliance with Lilburn's ordinance or you will be subject to a fine.
  • Girl Scout Day Camp continues today and runs through the week in Lilburn City Park. Expect some traffic back up around the park this morning as Scouters are dropped of.

  • It's that day! The once in a lifetime event for most of us when Venus crosses between the Earth and Sun! The 2004 Venus Transit was met with some cloudy skies in the Atlanta area so we were not able to enjoy it, but at this time, forecasters are saying we'll only have some partly cloudy skies at worst during the 6-7 p.m. optimal viewing time. You can find out more about the transit here.
