5 Things You Need to Know, May 18

It's Friday! Start your day off with everything pertinent AND trivial that makes every day so special!

Weather:

  • Hi: 82° Mostly sunny. The evening will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s. Pollen counts will be in the moderate range. Predominant pollens include Oak, Hickory, Pecan and Birch.

Gas:

  • Gas prices remain at $3.42 at several places around town. The best price is $3.41 at the Kroger Fuel Center at 3050 Five Forks Trickum Road. Add in your Kroger discount if you’ve bought enough groceries for a major fuel win. Before you head out for the day, check out our Commute Widget  to check on traffic and gas!

  • May 18 is a day to Celebrate, Celebrate, Celebrate! It’s not only Friday, it’s No Dirty Dishes Day (my kids LOVE this day) and Visit Your Relatives Day (my parents LOVE this day). In the list of obscure and whimsical observances, May 18th is also listed as Black Watch Day, National Cheese Souffle Day, National Tenant's Day, Peace Day, Rooster Day, Send an Electronic Greeting Card Day, Whistling Day, World Goodwill Day and MY favorite: Fairy Moonbeam Hopping Gala Day. I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds like a good reason to celebrate!

City Business:

  • Registration with the Lilburn Police Department for your monitored security system started on May 15. You have one month to register and there is a one time fee of $15. Residents can either register online or by mail. The deadline is June 15.
