5 Things You Need to Know, May 25

Everything you need to know to start your holiday weekend off right!

Weather:

  • After the 6:29 sunrise, we’ll experience a day of sunshine with a high of around 90! The UV Index is very high and predicted to be around 10. The low for today should be around 67. Sunset is 8:38 p.m. Allergy sufferers are going to enjoy Friday with low to moderate pollen counts!

Gas Prices:

  • We've experienced a pretty significant drop in gas prices as we head into the holiday weekend! From $3.36 on Wednesday and Thursday to $3.18 at the Kroger on Five Forks Trickum Road. Hollywood, Holiday & Observances:

  • May 25 is National Missing Children's Day. Take a moment; get informed and get involved. 
  • Hollywood releases 2 new movies today. "Men in Black 3" with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The closest place to see it this weekend is at Discover Mills and at Carmike 12 on Scenic Highway 124. "Chernobyl Diaries" - a suspense thriller can also be seen at Discover Mills.
  • Today is also Towel Day - celebrated every year on 25 May as a tribute by fans of Douglas Adams, the author of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
