 - Norcross Patch

Norcross Police arrested an attempted armed robbery suspect at a bus stop off Beaver Ruin Road after a nearby check cashing business reported that someone had tried to rob them.

The accused Norcross man, Q. Somah Paygai, who was positively identified by the victim, an employee of Atlanta Check Cashers, had a large kitchen knife and demand notes that police found up his sleeve, according to the incident report.

Elderly Man Extricated After Being Trapped in Vehicle - Canton-Sixes Patch

A single-vehicle accident left one man injured in northeastern Cherokee County Thursday afternoon.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the accident shortly after 1 p.m. on Highway 369/Hightower Road near its intersection with Lower Creighton Road.

First responders discovered a Lincoln-Mercury vehicle had left the highway and landed on its side. The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old male, was entrapped in the car and had to be extricated.

- Buckhead Patch

Nilai Sarda, a 13-year-old freshman at Buckhead's Westminster School, won $26,400 on the Teen Jeopardy! episode that aired Tuesday.

Sarda, who applied for Teen Jeopardy! during the first year he was eligible, placed third, beating out several other elite teens much older than he is.

You may recognize Sarda's name. He was the featured Buckhead Patch Whiz Kid of the Week once in 2011 before he headed to the National Geographic Bee, where he finished second overall at the age of 11.
