Bethesda Senior Center Closed This Summer For Renovations

Senior will be closed May 28 until after Labor Day.

The Bethesda Park Senior Center, located off Ronald Parkway in unincorporated Lawrenceville, will be closed this summer for renovations, according to the county's community services department.

Gwinnett's first senior rec center when it opened 20 years ago is located just outside Lilburn's 30047 zip code, but serves seniors in the southern portions of the county. Many of the senior classes originally scheduled for Bethesda Park will be held at the Mountain Park Activity Building, adjacent to the.

The Bethesda center will be closed from May 28 until after Labor Day for renovations, including replacing lighting and plumbing fixtures, installing new countertops, cabinets and a reception desk, and other improvements to the floor, ceiling and walls.

Some of the work will be funded from the 2005 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Earlier this month, Gwinnett County awarded the project to the low bidder, Thurgood Construction, Inc., for $534,800.
