Not many restaurants can claim over 25 years of consistent business in a relatively small community like Tucker. is an exception. If you’re expecting elegance, high-end fare or all the bells and whistles of typical Mexican chain restaurants, look elsewhere. But if you’re in the mood for friendly service, a low-key eatery and decent food at a good price, El Tapatio is for you.
Order a pitcher of their Texas margaritas for a little over $17 dollars (the best price for a pitcher of good margaritas to be found anywhere around), pair it with chicken and shrimp fajitas (enough for two with extra tortillas), plus their tasty cheese dip, and you can expect to get out the door for around $35 bucks…not too bad.
Granted, El Tap – as I’ve heard it referred to fondly by locals – is no beauty queen. It’s an old house, and I’ve heard tell that there was once – and still may be – a bathtub in the men’s room. But it’s simple, clean and consistent. There are around 30 tables, and I’ve never had to wait in a line get a seat. There’s plenty of parking in their lot, plus extra spaces next door, and a large ramp makes the entrance easily accessible.

I have to commend the staff on being accommodating, as well. If you need extra napkins, another vat of salsa or you simply want the fan turned to a lower setting, all you have to do is ask.
